As previously mentioned in a blog or two, Braden works at a store in town in the bakery department.

He applied a few times and finally got the job. He was so pumped. After working at a super fast-paced restaurant, the bakery position was an easy transition.

He does various tasks which include everything from prepping dough to cutting whatever they need to cut up to making garlic bread to stocking the shelves to preparing the giant chocolate chip cookies to topping the cinnamon buns.

Overall they have a great selection at the store and everything we’ve purchased so far in the bakery tastes really, really good.

Besides the great connections he’s made and the fact he likes working there, once in a while they the bakery promotes new pastry items and flavours of donuts. They make the donuts fresh in house and, like any restaurant or eatery, the staff gets to be taste-testers sometimes.

And yesterday was one of those times.

If there are extras left over (since they go bad overnight) they get to bring them home instead of tossing them out.

So Braden brought home a decent selection of coffee’s classic sidekick, and although Jeff and I both work up with a sugar hangover, there’s a reason they sell out each and every day.

Last night we tried Peanut Butter & Jelly, Oreo, some sugared thing with chocolate filling inside and a couple of others. On the regular, our top favourite is the Pina Colada one and I’ve heard the Blueberry Thyme is apparently amazing.

Another item — their carrot cake cheesecake — is arguably the best desserts in town…IMO.
