‘Crowd-Pleasing Bites’
You (Almost) Can’t Go Wrong With These Appetizers
…And by *ahem* ‘crowd’, I mean your “ immediate household bubble” of course.
Eating a lot of different flavours is my most favourite way to eat.
I would choose a buffet of hors d’oeuvres over a plate of steak and potatoes any day.
Even though the 2020 holiday season may look somewhat different than in previous years, it doesn’t mean we have to compromise the festive yumminess. Better yet, I can make the goodness and spread the food joy by dropping it off your doorstep! ;)
I already wrote on nostalgic baking and sweets, so here are some of my personal favourites and sure-to-please bites in the appy department:
- Obviously anything on a charcuterie board
- Spinach dip in a bread bowl (my sister Tracy)
- Cocktail Spread (Jeff’s ‘thing’ from Best Of Bridge cookbooks)
- Oven-baked nuts ’n’ bolts (Mrs. Parker…a family friend)
- Spicy proscuitto-wrapped asparagus with cream cheese (from my brother-in-law Matt)
- Hot artichoke dip (mine)
- Spicy & cheesy baked jalapeño popper dip (from my sister-in-law Megan)
- Baked brie wrapped in Pilsbury croissant dough, served with raspberry preserves and baked garlic cloves…on crostini toast (a family friend)
- Stuffed mushroom caps (my brother Dan)
As well…a solid purchasable option is anything from Fresh Is Best Salsa Co. (my friends Colin and Lisa). Their stuff is always sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

- Cocktail Spread- https://www.food.com/recipe/shrimp-cocktail-spread-439234
- Mrs.P’s Nuts ’N’ Bolts- Main stuff : 1 small box plain Cheerios, 1 small box Shreddies, 1 bag pretzel sticks, 1 small bag Bugles or Chex (or both ;), 1 bag blanched peanuts/ Sauce part to mix together: 20oz oil, 1/2 Worcestershire sauce, 1tsp each garlic salt, celery salt and onion salt. Mix sauce part and pour evenly over main stuff. Mix together in large roasting pan and bake at 250F for about 2 1/2 hours mixing often. Enjoy!
