‘Money Matters’
Stellar Peeps- Part 6
Accounting, bookkeeping, spreadsheets, tracking, recording…
How often do you sit down and do your books? Daily? Weekly? Monthly?
Though it took many failures and a few steep learning curve years, I’ve become (almost obsessively) diligent about the ‘one-touch’ rule when it comes to receipts and paperwork. I also make sure, each night before bed, that I input what I’ve spent that day…for both personal and business accounts.
Obviously Jeff and I (like the rest of the world I’m sure) prefer making more money than we spend and living within our means. From learning the humbling way in our younger years, I have become allergic to accruing debt and there aren’t many feelings/situations I loathe more than carrying the heavy, heavy burden.
Monthly revolving credit card debt is the worst for many reasons and if you’re in that boat (it’s ok…no shame…most of us have been there at some point or another) I suggest taking an active look at the necessary steps to get out of that monster life-sucking cycle.
From debt consolidators to debt counsellors to simply knowing what goes in and out of your pocket each month…there are many ways to start getting a grip on your finances as early as tonight.
Remember this famous saying:
“Don’t put off until tomorrow, what you can do today.” -Benjamin Franklin
Ooorrrr as the OG first said it…
“Don’t put it off; do it now! Don’t rest until you do” -Proverbs 6:4

There are two crucial considerations when starting and operating a business.
I previously wrote about one — which is to have a stellar legal team — and the second is to find a trustworthy accountant.
Jerry Spice.
Jerry has been our accountant for many years. He resides in Kamloops and has graciously put up with our former disorganized and often rushed tax time mess.
He is our steady…we trust his suggestions of what to do when it comes to personal and business taxes and related items. Like a Dad who does everything in his might to help ensure his child makes good sound decisions, Jerry always says what needs to be said when we need to hear it. He is straightforward, with a good sense of humour and we gladly embrace his in-kind sarcasm.
Having a sense of humour is a must when dealing with taxes and money.
Again…having been down the rocky road of dealing with atrocious personalities and dishonest former accountants and bookkeepers who lost our entire files…and didn’t file anything until we got hounded by the government yet didn’t know what was happening… Jerry is a keeper.
He’s stuck with us and we hope we never get fired. His staff rocks and they are all amazing in that office.
So if you’re looking for a stand-up team in the Kamloops area for your personal or business accounting needs…we highly recommend Jerry Spice (Inc.)
