‘Paint, Paint & More Paint’

So Many Options To Get Creative

--

Luke loves art.

He likes tracing with his light pad thingy he bought off the Internet and drawing freehand in pencil. The pastels come out here and there as do the crayons.

Of all the mediums, however, Luke will pick up a paint brush over anything else most of the time.

I’m not sure how many dollar store canvases have moved in and out of our art cabinet and aside from the ones hanging all over the house, there has been a lot!

We’ve done landscapes together, flowers, Christmas pieces and his favourite one to paint is of (sort of abstract) colourful birch trees. There are even a few of those on our walls.

Tonight he busted out the Posca paint pens.

Initially Luke had wanted to paint a new-to-him pair of all white Air Jordan 1s that I found at the thrift store today but we suggested he should sleep on that decision.

Instead, I dug out one of the art-worthy apparel items from the small stash we purchased from Michaels a while ago and sat down with him to create together.

With the intention to start designing on a black and white raglan long sleeve, he ‘hit a wall’ and tired out quickly. It was decided bed was a better option at that time.

With so many choices; watercolour, tye dye, paint pens, puff paint, glitter paint, oil-based, acrylic, gouache and encaustic (which the latter two I have not idea what they are and don’t think we’ve used them before???), it’s sometimes hard to decide which route to take.

When in doubt, Luke favours his paint pens. I guess we will pick up where we left off tomorrow when he’s rested and ready.

What’s your favourite art medium to use?
