‘Safeway Buns Only Please’
The Preferences
Tonight we had chicken burgers for dinner.
Everyone likes different sauce on their meat and Luke doesn’t do chicken in burger form…only the bun and meat placed separately on the plate.
It’s been a long road to find the perfect hamburger bun.
The pre-bagged Costco ones with sesame seeds won’t do since Luke also doesn’t do seeds and Jeff prefers Kaisers.
Braden doesn’t like traditional Kaiser buns because they go weird in his braces and neither boys are excited about their size or how tough to bite sometimes. So when we stumbled across the Safeway SOFT Kaisers and everyone approved, we knew had found a winner.
The perfect prized white buns are just the right size to fit most patties and they aren’t crusty/‘airy’/messy. More like a normal hamburger bun in texture, they are without seeds and also offer that amazing freshly-baked smell.
As well, the Safeway favs are great broiled with garlic or or normal buttered to dip in soup or as a lunch bunwich.
They are definitely Webb-household approved.
Another family find that took a long time to get just right for all four of us are tortilla chips…except they don’t sell them in Canada.
After being semi-satisfied for a long time hunting for the best authentic chip, I finally found the most amazing brand but I can only get them in the US. Darn.
‘Juanita’s’ — particularly the ‘Chilipeno Chips’.
So. Good. You won’t go back.
Here we usually buy Fresh Is Best because they stand out from the rest and are made locally. So that’s a no-brainer.
Is there any item in your fam’s preferences that took a while to find just the right one? Always open to suggestions!
Fun Fact: The tortilla chip originated in America. Though often consumed and served in Central and South America, they actually have roots in the USA.
“Although first mass-produced commercially in the U.S. in Los Angeles in the late 1940s, tortilla chips grew out of Mexican cuisine, where similar items were well known, such as totopos and tostadas.”- Wikipedia.org
