Supporting Local
It’s always a great idea to support local business whenever possible.
Not just because it’s convenient but because our money goes directly to people working hard to pay their bills and support their families in our very own community. As well, our local economy depends on small businesses.
The Webb family tradition for each birthday in our house is that the birthday boy or girl gets to choose where they want to go or what they want to have for a special treat dinner…and on Sunday, it’s Luke’s- our youngest son- 9th birthday.
Year after year, my husband Jeff, our oldest Braden and Luke continue to choose a local long-standing family owned and operated restaurant called Peter’s Pasta for their special birthday meal.
The favoured Italian-inspired eatery, like most restaurants these days, has recently transitioned to a take-out only style experience as all dine-in options are clearly off the table with the current COVID-19 situation.
Peter’s Pastas’ days of operation are modified and they aren’t normally open Sundays anyway. That put a slight wrench in our traditional birthday dinner plans as we usually have a big extended family meal out on a Friday or Saturday evening.
But, like every satisfied loyal almost-9-year-old-birthday customer would do, Luke stuck with his annual directive and we ordered an early celebratory pasta dinner to go!
We are so grateful to be able to have the means to support local small businesses and other families like ours. We do not take for granted the blessings we have in our lives or the friendships we have built in our city.
Tonight we may have celebrated Luke’s birthday a little differently but the food tasted darn good and so did the white chocolate raspberry gelato, just as it always does!
Until tomorrow, remember to support local where you can! :)
